About Macrocheraia grandis (Gray, 1832)

Macrocheraia is a genus of true bugs in the family Largidae that contains only one species: Macrocheraia grandis. This species is found primarily in Southeast Asia, with its range also extending into parts of South Asia. In older scientific literature, this species was sometimes placed under the genus Lohita, a name that comes from the Sanskrit word for red. Males of this species have a long abdomen that extends noticeably far beyond the tip of the wings. Macrocheraia grandis feeds on a wide variety of plants, including species that belong to the plant families Euphorbiaceae and Malvaceae.
