About Lythrum tribracteatum Spreng.

Lythrum tribracteatum Spreng. is a flowering plant species in the loosestrife family, commonly called threebract loosestrife. It is native to Europe, and occurs as an introduced species in parts of western North America. It most often grows in moist habitats, including areas around ponds. This plant is an erect, branching annual herb that reaches a maximum height of approximately 30 centimeters. Its oblong leaves grow up to 2.5 centimeters long; they are arranged oppositely on the lower portion of the stem, and alternately on the upper stem. Clusters of small flowers develop in the leaf axils. Each flower has glandular bright red sepals and tiny lavender petals.
