Lystra lanata (Linnaeus, 1758) has black wings marked with blue spots, and the sides of its head are red. It can be distinguished from the related species Lystra pulverulenta by the feature that any white area on its wing is restricted only to the wing edge. This species occurs across Brazil, French Guiana, the French West Indies, Guyana, Mexico, and Suriname.
