About Lysiphragma howesii Quail, 1901

This species is scientifically named Lysiphragma howesii Quail, 1901. Quail’s original description of the adult moth is as follows: The wingspan measures 13⁄16 of an inch. Wing markings are not very distinct. The base color of the fore wings is greenish, mixed with paler scales. A suffused blackish line sits near the base of the fore wings. One black spot is located one-third of the way along the inner margin, and a second similar black spot is located halfway along the inner margin. Both spots extend upward via a thin wavy line to around the middle of the wing. A light patch edged with black sits two-thirds of the way along the costal margin, and a second light patch is located at the wing apex. The costa is marked with small black dots. The basal area of the hind wings is grey, and the margin is darker. The thorax is silvery, mixed with green scales. The abdomen is silvery-grey.
