About Lysimachia congestiflora Hemsl.
Lysimachia congestiflora Hemsl. is an herbaceous perennial stoloniferous plant that grows above ground, reaching 10 to 20 centimeters in height. Its stems range from creeping to ascending in growth habit, and form root knots at nodes. The plant produces opposite leaves, with two pairs of leaves located just below its inflorescence. Leaf blades measure (0.7) 1.4 to 3 (4.5) centimeters long by (0.6) 1.3 to 2.2 (3) centimeters wide, and vary in shape from ovate to broadly ovate or nearly circular. Leaf blades bear pressed, jointed hairs, and have mostly reddish or black glandular dots along their edges. This species is distributed across China, Bhutan, northeast India, Nepal, Sikkim, Myanmar, and Thailand, where it grows in moist forest edges, thickets, and rice field edges at altitudes between 200 and 2100 meters. It is cultivated as an ornamental plant, valued for its bright yellow flowers and low maintenance requirements. It grows best in moist, well-drained soils, and thrives in conditions from full sun to partial shade. It can be propagated from stem cuttings. Named cultivars of this species include: ‘Aurea’, 'Outback Sunset' (which has variegated leaves), ‘Persian Chocolate’ (which has purplish foliage), 'Waikiki Sunset' (which has variegated leaves), and ‘Zimai’ (which has purple-veined leaves).
