About Lyristes gemellus Boulard, 1988

Lyristes gemellus, commonly known as the geminate cicada, is a species of true cicada. It is native to the southeastern coast of Turkey, and has also been observed in Cyprus and the southwestern islands of Greece. This species belongs to a species complex that also includes Lyristes isodol and Lyristes plebejus. The three species are nearly identical in physical morphology, and can only be distinguished from one another by the acoustic signals produced by males.
