About Lygodactylus picturatus (Peters, 1870)

The white-headed dwarf gecko, also called the painted dwarf gecko, has the scientific name Lygodactylus picturatus. It is a gecko species belonging to the genus Lygodactylus, and it is widely distributed across Africa. In addition to the nominate subspecies, one other subspecies is recognized: Lygodactylus picturatus sudanensis Loveridge, 1935, commonly known as the Sudani dwarf gecko. In 2004, the species Lygodactylus luteopicturatus was formally synonymized with Lygodactylus picturatus.
