About Lycopodium lagopus (Laest. ex C.Hartm.) Zinserl. ex Kuzen.
Lycopodium lagopus, commonly called one-cone club-moss, is an arctic and subarctic plant species belonging to the genus Lycopodium in the clubmoss family. It is widely distributed across cold, northerly regions, including Canada, Greenland, Russia, Scandinavia, Alaska, and other northern parts of the United States. This species is very similar to Lycopodium clavatum, with the key difference that L. lagopus rarely produces more than one cone per stem. No evidence has been found that the two species interbreed, even when they grow alongside one another.
