Adults of this species regularly grow to 40 centimeters in length, and some individuals can reach up to 64 centimeters. It has a flattened, tapering head and a marbled eye. Its lateral and dorsal scales are brown or black and tipped with white, while all its ventral scales are completely white. It has long recurved fangs on both the upper and lower jaws, a feature that gives the species its name.
