About Lycium australe F.Muell.

Lycium australe, commonly known as Australian boxthorn, is a plant native to Australia. This species has large sharp woody spines, small leaves, and very small berries. It is closely related to Lycium ferocissimum, or African boxthorn, which is classified as an invasive weed in Australia, New Zealand, and Cyprus. The two species can be distinguished from one another by different features. Lycium australe is endemic to the Australian mainland, where it occurs in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, and Western Australia. It grows in arid and semi-arid areas, in subsaline soils along the edges of claypans and salt lakes.
