Luzula pallescens is a plant that reaches a height of 9 to 15 centimeters (3.5 to 5.9 inches). Its basal leaves measure 2 to 3 centimeters (0.79 to 1.18 inches) in width. The cauline leaves grow to a height of 3.0 to 5.5 centimeters (1.2 to 2.2 inches) and are 2 to 5 millimeters (0.079 to 0.197 inches) wide. The lower bract length ranges from 3 to 4 centimeters (1.2 to 1.6 inches), while the peduncles measure 2.0 to 5.5 centimeters (0.79 to 2.17 inches) in length. This species is widely found in northern Eurasia, including regions from Great Britain and Scandinavia, across Central and Eastern Europe, through Eurasia and Central Asia, extending to the Himalayas and Northeast Asia. In China, it grows at elevations between 1,100 and 3,600 meters (3,600 to 11,800 feet) and is present in provinces such as Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Shanxi, Sichuan, and Xinjiang. It is also common in countries like Japan, Finland, Korea, Poland, Russia, Taiwan, and Ukraine.
