About Lupinus densiflorus Benth.
Scientific name: Lupinus densiflorus Benth. This entry currently describes Lupinus microcarpus, an annual plant that reaches up to 80 centimeters (31 inches) in height. Its leaves are palmately compound, with 5 to 11 leaflets that measure between 1 centimeter (0.39 inches) and 5 centimeters (2.0 inches) long, and up to 1 centimeter (0.39 inches) broad. The flowers of Lupinus microcarpus are most often pink to purple, but can also range in color from white to yellow. These flowers grow in open whorls arranged on an erect spike. The species grows at elevations starting from sea level in the northern portion of its range, and reaches up to 1,600 meters (5,200 feet) in elevation in Southern California.
