About Lunella granulata (Gmelin, 1791)

The shell of Lunella granulata ranges in size from 20 mm to 40 mm. This umbilicate shell is typically more elongated than that of Lunella coronata, with its height approximately equal to its diameter. The entire shell surface is finely granulose, featuring subsutural and coronal series of tubercles. Sometimes, one or two additional series of tubercles are present on the middle portion of the body whorl. This marine species is distributed in the marine area ranging from Taiwan to South Africa.
