About Luina hypoleuca Benth.

Luina hypoleuca Benth., commonly known as the littleleaf silverback, is a species in the genus Luina of the family Asteraceae. It reaches a maximum height of 40 centimeters (16 inches). Its leaves measure 2.5 to 6.5 centimeters (1 to 2 and 1 half inches) in length, and are white on the underside; this feature gives the species its specific epithet, which means "bottom white". It flowers from June through October, producing yellowish, rayless flower heads that are around 9 millimeters (3 eighths of an inch) long. This plant is native to North America, where it grows in open, typically rocky habitats. It occurs at elevations ranging from 70 to 2,100 meters (230 to 6,890 feet) in British Columbia, California, Oregon, and Washington.
