Loxostylis is a genus of flowering plants in the family Anacardiaceae. The genus contains only one species, Loxostylis alata Spreng. ex Rchb., which is commonly called tar wood in English. This species is a self-supporting perennial plant. Its native range is Southern Africa. The IUCN Red List classifies this species as least concern because it is widespread, although it faces harm in some local areas. This species is dioecious. During the spring growing season, its male flowers are white and scented, while its female flowers are green, with sepals that turn red or pink.
