About Lotus tenuis Waldst. & Kit. ex Willd.

Lotus tenuis Waldst. & Kit. ex Willd. is a flowering plant that belongs to the pea family, Fabaceae. It is native to western and southern Europe, as well as southwest Asia. Some botanists classify this taxon as a subspecies of Lotus corniculatus, under the name L. corniculatus subsp. tenuifolius. This species has a tolerance for salt and poor quality soil, which makes it useful for growing in marginal growing conditions. It has successfully naturalized in many other regions around the world, including the Pampas of Argentina and parts of the United States. Its common names are narrowleaf trefoil, narrow-leaved bird's-foot-trefoil, slender trefoil, creeping trefoil, and prostrate trefoil.
