Lophognathus gilberti, described by Gray in 1842, is commonly called Gilbert's dragon, Gilbert's lashtail, or the Ta-ta lizard. It is a species of agamid lizard that is endemic to Australia. Within Australia, this species occurs in northern Western Australia, the northern Northern Territory, and northwestern Queensland. It can be found in a wide range of habitats, including coastal sand dunes, shrubland, savanna, and forest, and has also been recorded in agricultural areas and urban areas. Lophognathus gilberti is oviparous, and it has temperature-dependent sex determination.
