Morphology: Lophoceros fasciatus semifasciatus is a large bird, measuring 54 centimetres (21 inches) in length. Its plumage is mostly black, with a white belly and a white tail tip. The long, curved bill is patterned black and yellow, and bears a medium-sized casque. Male and female individuals are similar in appearance, though the female has a smaller casque than the male. Immature birds have duller plumage than adults, with smaller bills and no casque. This bird has an undulating flight pattern.
