About Lonicera implexa Aiton
Lonicera implexa Aiton, a species of flowering plant in the Caprifoliaceae family, is sometimes called by the common but non-specific common names Minorca honeysuckle, evergreen honeysuckle, or Mediterranean honeysuckle. Like most Lonicera (honeysuckle) species, L. implexa is a climbing plant that grows to 2.5 meters or more. It is native to the Mediterranean region. In southern Europe, it occurs across the entire European Mediterranean area; its native range covers Portugal and Spain (including the Balearic Islands), southern France (including Corsica), Italy (including Sardinia and Sicily), Malta, the Western Balkans, Greece (including the East Aegean Islands), and the European part of Turkey (East Thrace). In northern Africa, its native range is restricted to the Mediterranean regions of Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia. Lonicera implexa is sometimes cultivated as a garden plant outside of its native range, and was first introduced to the United Kingdom in 1772.
