About Loeseliastrum schottii (Torr.) Timbrook
Loeseliastrum schottii is a species of flowering plant in the phlox family, commonly known as Schott's calico. It is native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico, where it is common across many parts of the desert region. This species is a small, hairy annual herb. It has alternately arranged leaves that grow up to 4 centimeters long, with edges lined by long, bristle-tipped teeth. The flower typically has three lobes on its upper lip and two lobes on its lower lip. The flower has a spotted to mottled pattern, and its color ranges from purple-speckled white to orange-speckled yellow, and sometimes includes shades of red and pink. Its protruding stamens are curved, and are tipped with yellow anthers.
