About Locustella ochotensis (Middendorff, 1853)
Middendorff's grasshopper warbler, with the scientific name Locustella ochotensis (Middendorff, 1853), measures 15.5 cm (6.1 in) in total length. Its crown, nape, lores, and eye-stripe are greyish brown, while its mantle is browner and more olive in tone. The species has a pale creamy supercilium that extends to the ear coverts, and its rump and uppertail coverts are more yellowish or rufous brown. It has a graduated tail with white tips that can appear rounded in shape. Its song consists of high-pitched, spaced chit, chit notes that come before a trilled sequence of trrrrrrrr-schoy-schoy-schoy; its call is tluk, tluk,... This warbler also performs short song flights. It inhabits forests near water and scrubwoods.
