Littoraria flava was first described by P.P. King in 1832. The maximum recorded shell length of this species is 20 mm. Currently, Littoraria flava is distributed from the Caribbean to Brazil, with confirmed occurrences in Cuba, Venezuela, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Guadeloupe, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad & Tobago, Guyana and Suriname. Its geographic range spans between 22.07°N to 29°S latitude and 81°W to 34.9°W longitude. For its habitat, the minimum recorded depth is -1.5 m, and the maximum recorded depth is 0 m.
