About Litoria coplandi (Tyler, 1968)
Copland's rock frog, also known as the saxicoline tree frog (Litoria coplandi), is a species of frog belonging to the subfamily Pelodryadinae. It is endemic to Australia, with a native range that stretches from the Kimberley region of Western Australia to Arnhem Land, and there is a single recorded occurrence in northern Queensland. Its natural habitats include subtropical or tropical dry shrubland, subtropical or tropical dry lowland grassland, intermittent rivers, and rocky areas. The IUCN Red List classifies this species as least concern, and identifies its population trend as stable. The species was first published by Tyler in 1968, based on his study of a type collection assembled by Copland. The original collection of 29 specimens, held at the Western Australian Museum, was later split into three groups of syntypes assigned respectively to this species, Litoria watjulumensis, and Litoria peronii. The holotype for L. coplandi was collected at Inverway Station in the Northern Territory.
