About Lithospermum virginianum L.

This species is currently classified scientifically as Lithospermum virginianum L., and is also widely known by the synonym Onosmodium virginianum. Its common names include gravel-weed, wild Job's tears, false gromwell, and Virginia false-gromwell. It is a perennial plant native to the eastern United States. Its native range extends from Louisiana to Florida in the south, and reaches north as far as New York and Massachusetts. It has been recorded growing in dry, loamy soil, most commonly in sandhill and longleaf pine plant communities.
