About Lithophragma tenella Nutt. ex Torr. & A.Gray
Lithophragma tenella Nutt. ex Torr. & A.Gray (also referenced as Lithophragma tenellum) is a species of flowering plant in the saxifrage family, commonly called slender woodland star. It is native to much of western North America, ranging from British Columbia through California to New Mexico, where it grows in multiple types of open habitat. This is a rhizomatous perennial herb that grows erect or leans, producing a naked flowering stem. Most of its leaves are located low on the stem, and each leaf is divided into three toothed lobes. The stem holds 3 to 12 flowers, each held in a cuplike calyx made up of red or green sepals. Each flower has five petals that are white or pink, up to 7 millimeters long, and lined with several lobes or teeth.
