Zweifel's frog, with the scientific name Lithobates zweifeli (Hillis, Frost & Webb, 1984), is an amphibian species in the family Ranidae that is endemic to Mexico. It was formally described in 1984 by Hillis, Frost, and Webb. Its holotype locality is 12 km east of Teloloapan, Guerrero, Mexico. This species occurs primarily in low elevation tropical seasonal forests. It can be found across southern Mexico, including the Balsas Depression and the surrounding states of Guerrero, Morelos, Michoacán, Puebla, México, Oaxaca, Jalisco, and Colima. It inhabits low elevation tropical and subtropical forests, and is typically found close to permanent and temporary water bodies such as streams, rivers, and ponds. These water bodies act as breeding habitats for the species.
