About Liparis mucosus Ayres, 1855
This species is scientifically named Liparis mucosus Ayres, 1855, and is commonly called the slimy snailfish. Its body color can range from gray to brownish to red, and individuals occasionally display dark stripes. A lobe is present at the front of its dorsal fin. Its gill slit extends forward to the region in front of the upper pectoral fin rays. Its dorsal and anal fins do not extend onto the caudal fins.
