Its single species, Lindera tessellatella Blanchard, 1852, was described by Blanchard two years before the genus. This species is widely distributed; it was first described from specimens collected in South America, and has since been recorded from Africa, Europe, North America, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and Hawaii. The wingspan of Lindera tessellatella ranges from 20 mm to 30 mm.
