About Linaria ricardoi Cout.
Linaria ricardoi Cout. is an annual plant that has thick, linear leaves with slightly curled tips. It produces between 15 and 20 flowers, each with a small violet corolla that measures 9 to 12 millimeters. This species is endemic to southern Portugal, found in the interior of the Alentejo region. Its main distribution is centered in the Beja District, specifically occurring in the areas of Redondo, Ferreira do Alentejo, Beja, Alvito, Cuba and Serpa. It grows in association with grain fields including wheat and oat, and less commonly barley, as well as fallow lands and meadows located within traditional or montado olive groves. It rarely grows on embankments and roadside verges. It thrives in these habitats due to the reduced application of herbicides, and it prefers clay-based, alkaline soils.
