About Limnodynastes convexiusculus (Macleay, 1878)
Adults of this species of marbled frog reach about 4.5 centimeters (1.8 inches) in length, and may sometimes grow larger. Their toes are long and unwebbed. The back is colored grey to light brown, marked with numerous prominent darker blotches. The belly is white. Males have a yellowish throat and many small, sharp black spines on their backs. When disturbed, the frog’s skin excretes large amounts of mucus. The marbled frog is typically solitary, lives in thick ground vegetation, and is more often heard than seen. Males often call from hidden locations that are usually partly submerged beneath vegetation. Its call is described as "a rapid series of uk uk uks". Small, brown eggs are laid in a floating foam nest under vegetation. Tadpoles grow to 7 centimeters (2.8 inches) in length. This frog lives in waterholes and pools within open grassland and woodland habitats.
