Ligyra tantalus (Fabricius, 1794) is a species of bee fly belonging to the family Bombyliidae. This species has an orange and brown thorax, and a black abdomen marked with a white ring and four spots. In some individuals, the two rearmost spots may be joined together. When at rest, its purplish-black wings are held swept back away from the body. This species is distributed across Asia and Australia. In Asia, it has been recorded in mainland China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Palawan (Philippines), Taiwan, and Thailand.
