About Ligusticum grayi J.M.Coult. & Rose
Ligusticum grayi J.M.Coult. & Rose is a species of flowering plant in the carrot family, commonly known as Gray's licorice-root. It is native to the western United States, ranging from Montana to California, where it grows in moist, mountainous habitats including meadows and forest floors. This is a carrot-like perennial herb that grows from a taproot, reaching heights between 20 and 80 centimeters. Its leaves are similar to those of its relatives like celery, with each leaf divided into several leaflets that have pointed lobes. The plant's inflorescence is a compound umbel made up of many small, white flowers. The Atsugewi people used various parts of this plant for medicinal and other purposes. This species may be confused with poison hemlock.
