Lichenopteryx despecta, commonly called the despised monkey moth, is a moth species that belongs to the family Eupterotidae. It was first described in 1874 by Cajetan Felder and Rudolf Felder, who were father-and-son entomologists. This species is found in two regions: KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa, and Zanzibar in Tanzania.
