About Lichenaula onychotypa Turner, 1939
Lichenaula onychotypa is a species of moth belonging to the family Xyloryctidae. It was first described by Alfred Jefferis Turner in 1939. This moth is found in Australia, with confirmed records from the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria, and Western Australia. Its wingspan measures approximately 20 millimeters. The forewings are white, heavily speckled with fuscous, and feature distinct fuscous markings. An oblique, slightly curved line runs from below the costa near the base to close to the base of the dorsum. There is a small dorsal suffusion; from the middle of this suffusion, a thick inwardly oblique line extends halfway across the disc. An ill-defined fascia stretches from the midpoint of the costa to the tornus, and an erect line from the tornus connects to an elongated subapical costal spot. The posterior edge of this spot is also connected to the tornus. A broad submarginal line runs from the apex, and does not reach all the way to the tornus. The hindwings are whitish, with the extreme apex lightly suffused with grey.
