Libellula vibrans, commonly known as the great blue skimmer, is a dragonfly species belonging to the skimmer family. It is one of the largest members of the skimmer group, with a total body length ranging from 50 to 63 millimetres, or 2.0 to 2.5 inches. Immature great blue skimmers are brown in color, while mature individuals have a blue hue. This species occurs near lakes, ponds, and slow-moving streams across the eastern United States, and is rarely found in southern Ontario.
