Liatris scariosa, commonly known as savanna blazing star, is a flowering plant species belonging to the genus Liatris. It is native to six U.S. states: Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. This species is fire-adapted, and its seeds will germinate when they detect chemicals from plant smoke. It is a perennial herb that grows in dry woods and clearings. The Latin specific epithet scariosa translates to "shriveled".
