About Leucania comma Linnaeus, 1761

The wingspan of Leucania comma Linnaeus, 1761 ranges from 35 to 42 mm. Its forewing is a drab grey color. Blackish suffusion covers most of the forewing, excluding the areas along the costa, inner margin, and an oblique, fascia-shaped submarginal area; the veins and folds of the forewing remain pale. A whitish lunule sits on the discocellular. The outer edge of the pale submarginal fascia extends pale tooth-shaped markings along the veins toward the termen, and the wedge-shaped intervals between these markings are filled with black. A long black streak runs from the base of the forewing, below the cell. The median vein is white, with only a small white spot at the end of the cell and a minute black point above this spot. The veins are whitish, with black terminal streaks located in the intervals between them. The hindwing is dark greyish and fuscous.
