Leskea polycarpa Hedw. has creeping stems with spreading branches. Its stem leaves are longer than they are wide, measuring approximately 0.8โ€“1.6 mm (0.031โ€“0.063 inches) in length. The branch leaves are smaller, ranging from 0.5โ€“0.8 mm (0.02โ€“0.031 inches) long, and have an ovate to lanceolate shape. The spore capsules of this species are 2โ€“3 mm (0.079โ€“0.118 inches) long, brown to yellowish in color, and curved in shape. The seta, the stalk that holds the capsule, is 7โ€“12 mm (0.28โ€“0.47 inches) long and ranges in color from red to brownish-orange.
