About Leratiomyces percevalii (Berk. & Broome) Bridge & Spooner
Leratiomyces percevalii, commonly called the mulch maid, is a medium-sized saprobic mushroom. Its cap can reach up to 8 centimetres (3+1โ4 inches) wide, is yellowish-orange, and starts out bun-shaped, then becomes bell-shaped before maturing into a shallowly convex shape. The gills are adnexed to shortly decurrent, and range in color from whitish to purplish gray or purple-blackish. This species is common in urban areas, near trails and roads, and also grows under conifers in western North America. Its edibility has not been confirmed.
