About Leptotyphlops scutifrons (Peters, 1854)
Peters's threadsnake, scientifically named Leptotyphlops scutifrons (Peters, 1854), is a species of snake belonging to the family Leptotyphlopidae. This species has a wide distribution across Southern Africa. After two of its former subspecies, Leptotyphlops pitmani and Leptotyphlops merkeri, were reclassified as full separate species, L. scutifrons is no longer considered to occur in East Africa. While the exact boundaries of its current range remain unclear, it is currently believed to be present in Angola, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Eswatini, and western Lesotho.
