About Leptosittaca branickii Berlepsch & Stolzmann, 1894
The golden-plumed parakeet (Leptosittaca branickii Berlepsch & Stolzmann, 1894) is a large, long-tailed montane parakeet that lives in the Andean cloud forests of Colombia, Peru, and Ecuador. Adult golden-plumed parakeets are mostly bright green, with orange-yellow lores and small golden-yellow crests behind the eyes. Their bellies are a faded yellowish color, with scattered reddish orange feathers. This species has yellowish flight feathers on the underside of the wings, and strongly reddish colored feathers on the underside of the tail. Juvenile golden-plumed parakeets closely resemble adults, but have paler green, yellow, and orange bellies, and pale pink bills.
