About Leptosiphon filipes (Benth.) J.M.Porter & L.A.Johnson
Leptosiphon filipes is a small annual herb that grows a thread-like stem reaching up to 20 centimeters in length. Its oppositely arranged leaves are each split into linear lobes only a few millimeters long. The inflorescence at the tip of the stem usually holds a single tiny flower that is a few millimeters wide. This flower is pink or white, with a yellow throat. The species blooms from April to July. It is endemic to California, occurring mainly in the foothills of the western Sierra Nevada, and also in the Inner Northern California Coast Ranges. It grows at elevations below 1,300 metres (4,300 ft), in oak woodland, grassland, and yellow pine forest habitats.
