About Leptorhynchos tenuifolius F.Muell.
Leptorhynchos tenuifolius (common name wiry buttons) is a multi-stemmed, multi-branched perennial plant with an upright to ascending growth habit. It grows 10–40 cm (3.9–15.7 in) high, and its surface ranges from covered in soft hairs to completely smooth. Its leaves are narrow, linear, and pointed, with recurved margins, measuring 0.5–4 cm (0.20–1.57 in) long and 1 mm (0.039 in) wide; basal leaves on this species are longer and wider than other leaves. The flower heads are oblong-cone shaped, and about 5 mm (0.20 in) in diameter. The outer involucral bracts are clear with brown tips, their margins are densely covered in spreading soft hairs, and the florets are yellow. Flowering takes place from October to March. The fruit produced is a smooth cypsela about 1 mm (0.039 in) long. This is a locally common species that grows in a variety of habitats, including woodlands, forests, and wet areas on sandy soils, and is found in Victoria and South Australia.
