About Leptophobia caesia (Lucas, 1852)

Leptophobia caesia, commonly called the bluish white, is a butterfly species belonging to the Pieridae family. This species was first formally described by Hippolyte Lucas in 1852. Its geographic range extends from Mexico to Ecuador. It lives in a variety of environments, including tropical and subtropical forests, and is frequently observed close to rivers and streams. Leptophobia caesia is characterized by its delicate pale blue to white wings, which help it effectively camouflage from predators. This species adds to the biodiversity of the regions it occupies, participates in pollination, and therefore supports local ecosystems. The larvae of Leptophobia caesia feed on the flowering plant species Podandrogyne pulcherrima.
