About Leptophobia aripa (Boisduval, 1836)

Leptophobia aripa, commonly known as the common green-eyed white or mountain white, is a butterfly belonging to the family Pieridae. It is native to Mexico, Central America, and South America, though individual strays can be found as far north as southern Texas. This butterfly is very selective when choosing host plants to lay its eggs. It is a multivoltine species with overlapping generations. Adult Leptophobia aripa feed on flower nectar from various plant species, including Emilia sonchifolia, Lantana camara, and Bidens pilosa. Its larvae feed on Brassicaceae species, including Brassica oleracea. Additional recorded host plants for larvae include Nasturtium officinale, Tovaria pendula, and Tropaeolum moritzianum.
