About Leptoglossus clypealis Heidemann, 1910

Leptoglossus clypealis, commonly called the western leaf-footed bug, is a species of leaf-footed bug belonging to the family Coreidae. This species is distributed across Central America and North America. Adult western leaf-footed bugs measure 18 to 19 millimetres (0.71 to 0.75 inches) in body length. Their bodies are brown, with flared leaf-like expansions located near their feet and a pale band running across their wings. Leptoglossus clypealis is most commonly found living on juniper plants, but it can also act as a pest for agricultural crops. In the 1980s, researcher Hasan Bolkan identified this leaf-footed bug as the cause of lesions developing on commercially grown pistachio crops.
