About Leptodactylus luctator
Leptodactylus luctator, commonly known as the wrestler frog, is a species of frog belonging to the family Leptodactylidae. It is endemic to Brazil, Bolivia, Uruguay, and Argentina. This frog species can live in a wide variety of habitat types. It has been recorded in savannahs, other grasslands, dry areas, forests, forest edges, ponds, lakes, and alongside rivers. It tolerates some degree of human-caused environmental change, and has been observed living in gardens. Scientists have recorded this species at elevations ranging from 0 to 1000 meters above sea level, and it has been reported to occur in many protected areas. For reproduction, this frog creates a bubble nest to hold its eggs, which floats on the surface of the water. After tadpoles hatch from the eggs, they display schooling behavior.
