About Leptidea morsei Fenton, 1881
Leptidea morsei, commonly known as Fenton's wood white, is a butterfly species belonging to the family Pieridae. This species is distributed across a range stretching from central Europe through Siberia, Ussuri, Korea, northern China, to Japan. Adults of Leptidea morsei have a wingspan measuring 46 to 54 millimeters. The species produces two generations each year; adults are active in flight first from April to May, and a second generation flies again from June to July. The larvae of this butterfly feed on legumes. In Europe, the most commonly used host legumes are Lathyrus niger, Lathyrus hallersteinii, and Lathyrus vernus. Additional confirmed food plants for the larvae include Vicia cracca, Vicia japonica, and Vicia amoena. Leptidea morsei hibernates in its pupal life stage.
