About Leptidea duponcheli (Staudinger, 1871)

This species, Leptidea duponcheli (Staudinger, 1871), is distributed across South France, eastern regions of Southern Europe, Asia Minor, Armenia, and Persia. It differs from Leptidea sinapis in the pattern of markings on its wing underside, as illustrated in the referenced figure. The summer subspecies or form, Leptidea duponcheli aestiva Stgr. (27 g), has weakly yellow coloration on its wing upperside; its wing underside is more strongly yellow and entirely lacks markings.
