About Lepidozona cooperi (P.P.Carpenter, 1879)

Lepidozona cooperi (P.P.Carpenter, 1879) is a moderately large chiton that reaches an adult size of 30 to 40 mm. Its valves have a dull olive green to gray color on their exterior surface, and are sky blue on the interior surface. The girdle of this chiton typically has a rough texture, caused by its convex, ribbed scales. Like other mollusks, L. cooperi produces eggs that hatch into planktonic larvae known as trochophores. These larvae metamorphose directly into young adult chitons, with no veliger larval stage.
